Ground Breaking Ceremony

Exciting news for the Kayenta Center for the Arts! We have achieved another milestone! On Friday, May 31, we held our groundbreaking celebration, complete with gold shovels, cake and speeches. This event was very well attended (can you find yourself in the above picture?) and a testament to all who have and will continue to support our efforts in bringing this new indoor facility for all of the Southern Utah area to enjoy. There is still much to be done, as we need to raise additional funds for the interior and contents of the building. If you’d like more information on the Arts Center and/or would like to contribute, please contact Garry Morris at kayentaartsfoundation@gmail.com.  You can also go to  www.kayentaartsfoundation.org, Kayenta Arts Foundation’s website, to view the promo video for the Center and review the Building Fund brochure.

2013 Art in Kayenta commemorative posters are now on sale for $10 at the shops in the Coyote Gulch Art Village. Be sure to mark this date on your calendars, October 11 – 13, Friday thru Sunday, same weekend as the Huntsman Senior Games.

Directors work diligently to bring a variety of visual and performing arts to the greater southern Utah area.  Announcements for these events are made in the Kayenta Connection and on the KAF website www.kayentaartsfoundation.org and via KAF’s e-mail list. If you would like to be added to this list or if you have suggestions for an event or comments about a past event, please feel free to contact us at kayentaartsfoundation@gmail.org

Be a Part of the Art.   Another great way to get involved is to become a KAF Board Member.  Every individual has their own unique talents and strengths to bring to the table, and therefore we invite you to submit your name to our Board Chair, Judith Kapuscinski, at judithk@kayentaartsfoundation.org

May News: Kayenta Arts Foundation

Kayenta Arts Foundation

The new Kayenta Center for the Arts is continuing to make great progress.  At the April 4 Ivins City Council meeting, a deferred payment plan for the City impact fees was granted.  Thanks to all who turned out for the meeting to show their support. The official groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for the end of May, so plan on attending and join in the celebration.  Final details are still being confirmed, but stay tuned and watch for more information coming shortly in your email.

A huge thanks to all of you who have contributed financially thus far to help make the Arts Center a reality. We still have a long road ahead of us, as we need to raise additional funds for the interior and contents of the building, so if you’d like more information on the Arts Center and/or would like to contribute, please contact Garry Morris at kayentaartsfoundation@gmail.com.  You can also go to the Kayenta Arts Foundation’s website, www.kayentaartsfoundation.org, to view the promo video for the Center and review the Building Fund brochure.  Help the Kayenta Center for the Arts become the premier venue in the greater Southern Utah area for diverse artistic endeavors!

This year’s Street Painting Festival had a great turnout, with an estimated 4,000 people in attendance.  While most attendees came from WashingtonCounty, visitors came from as far away as Alaska and 8 foreign countries. Kudos to Aimee Bonham, Event Coordinator and Kayenta Arts Foundation Director.  And a very special thanks to all our dedicated volunteers who worked so diligently to help make this such a memorable event.

Our next big festival is the 14th Annual Art in Kayenta.  Put this date on your social calendar, October 11th, 12th and 13th, Friday thru Sunday, which coincides with the Huntsman Senior Games in St. George.  Sponsorship packages are available, a great opportunity to be a part of the art.  For more information, go to  http://kayentaartsfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/AIK-Sponsor-Sheet-2013.pdf

2013 Art in Kayenta commemorative posters are on order, and will soon be on sale at the shops in the Coyote Gulch Art Village. Hard to believe this has been going on for 14 years, although this is the first year that it is presented by the Kayenta Arts Foundation.  Did you attend the Quick Draw event last year?  This was such a popular and successful event, we decided to bring back what is now the 2nd Annual Quck Draw on the Saturday afternoon of the Art in Kayenta weekend.

Directors work diligently to bring a variety of visual and performing arts to the greater southern Utah area.  The May calendar is especially full of exiciting and diverse events.  Announcements for these events are made in the Kayenta Connections and on the KAF website and via KAF’s e-mail list.  If you would like to be added to this list or if you have suggestions for an event or comments about a past event, please feel free to contact us at kayentaartsfoundation@gmail.org or the Board Chair at judithk@kayentaartsfoundation.org.   Your input is important to us.

Reviews

  • I have got to say how impressed I am by the concept. The area is beautiful and peaceful and the houses blend into the desert.

  • Kayenta, I simply love it! This is the only place I stay when I go to St. George.  We just hang out, go for walks or take a dip in the beautiful pool....

  • Famous artists of the past simply painted their surroundings. Van Gogh painted his sunflowers; Matissa painted his breakfast. I can paint Kayenta.

  • Kayenta is like living in a place where you are on vacation year round. This is our place to create family memories.

The Kayenta Community, in southern Utah's red rock country, is a tranquil enclave surrounded by protected lands.
A 2,000 acre master planned community of fine homes, custom building sites and community amenities, is located 7 miles west of St. George, Utah. Kayenta is a unique departure from the norm, focused on moderate land use, moderate-sustainable growth, and an appreciation for our magnificent natural setting. Nearby, residents find adventure in the southwest's abundance of places to explore. Zion National Park, Snow Canyon and Bryce Canyon National Park are within view. While just beyond the horizon, adventure seekers will discover places like the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas.
